If I Could Turn Back Time: My Top 5 Do-Over Destinations…

Taking a page from Kirstie from Venga, Vale, Vamos, I’ve decided to list the cities that I have the most ganas to visit all-over again–in no particular order, mind you!!…It’s somewhat difficult to narrow it down to just 5, but here I go, anyways!!…

1) London, England

Me--The London Eye

While so many other girls have fallen head-over-heels in love with Paris, I’ve been carrying a flame for Londontown ever since I had the pleasure of living and studying there for a month last summer…I mean, what’s there NOT to fall in love with (besides the crowds in summer)???…When I return, I’m DEFINITELY going to hit up more museums and visit more markets!!… Continue reading “If I Could Turn Back Time: My Top 5 Do-Over Destinations…”

Last Days In The L-Town (For Now)…

It’s been goin’ on 3 days that I’ve been back in the ‘Boro–and it feels almost as if I had only dreamt of London and the Worrell House…

But it wasn’t just a dream my friends, and in my last few days there (for now), I tried to live it up a little…

So Tuesday night, we (minus one) sat down in the back garden with with Tap-Daddy (as some were wont to call him) and his wife, enjoying fine conversation, wine, bread, and sticky toffee pudding (which is one of the most delicious desserts I’ve EVER tasted–I’m seriously making that this week)…

That Wednesday, we had our exam (not too strenuous), and afterwards, I decided to go out and about on my last full day (for now) in this marvelous city…First, I made my way to the Palace of Westminster (a.k.a. The Houses of Parliament), where I went on a scheduled tour of the inside of the building…Granted, this isn’t the most spectacular building I’ve ever seen, politics don’t interest me at all, and the whole systemic governmental nonsense my tour guide was explaining went in one ear and right out the other–however, it’s nice to say I’ve actually been inside the building, and not just taken pictures of Big Ben (once again, no pictures inside could be taken–but that’s why I love the Internet)… Continue reading “Last Days In The L-Town (For Now)…”

A Night At The Theatre: Once In The West End…

Yesterday, I knocked off one of the items of my London To-Do List: “See a show on the West End”…And what an affair it was…

Well, considering that I was going out to the theatre–neigh, to the West End, one of (if not the) great theatre districts in the world, I decided to dress up appropriately for such an appropriate occasion…

Ridin’ Solo: My Day At St. Paul’s…

So yesterday, I did something that proves that I can function as a somewhat-independent adult in a big city: I rode the Tube successfully–and by myself (hence the titular Jason Derulo reference)!!!!…

Image

…Well, not the smartest man, but, you get where I’m going here…

You see, being a very neurotic girl who, some would say, tends to “overanalyze”, I was more than a little apprehensive…I mean, granted, I’ve ridden the Underground plenty of times by now, and I know it’s a very simple thing, but I had always done so with someone else…But seeing as no one else was going where I was going (I’ll get to that in a moment), I decided to take the plunge and go it alone–after all, if I’m going to settle down in a large city after school, I have to get used to this sort of thing…And, suffice it to say, it went completely smoothly, :-)…

Now, where was it that I was trying to go???…The answer:

Kensington: Home of Stuart, Hanover, and Windsor…

With all this excitement in the air over the impending arrival of the royal baby, what better place is there to visit than…

…Kensington Palace, residence of members of the royal family since 1689, from the House of Stuart, to the House of Hanover, and, today, Windsor…

On The Hunt: Exploring London…

Yesterday evening, I meandered through the streets of this great city–not to gaze awestruck like a tourist at every single landmark, but with a mission–a hunt, more specifically…A scavenger hunt…

You see, my professor gave us a little assignment to do with a partner: After giving us a list of 10 clues, he instructed us to figure out which landmarks/areas throughout the city he was referring to, and go to each one, bringing back some sort of evidence that we went there…The group that had completed the task the most would win a night out at dinner with him…

And so, me and Micaela set out on our journey @ around 1, taking only a mere 10 1/2 hours to get back to the House!!!!…Here’s some of the interesting things that I saw on my little adventure…

The British Museum:

In operation since 1753, this place has over 8 million objects within its permanent collection–and the best part is, it’s free…Now, I love museums, so to me, this place was AMAZING (to me, it’s up there with the Met and the Prado [not to boast, or anything])–esp. all the artifacts from Ancient Greece and Rome (the statues in particular)–and just for you, Ma, I’ll upload pics of the tombs/sarcophagi from Ancient Egypt…

Hello, My Darling–Welcome To London!!!!…

In spite of all the frustration that was had in actually getting here, I’m FINALLY in London–and my first day here was interesting to say the least!!!!

Upon arriving at the House, I lugged my things to my room, which isn’t the swankiest–but it’s nice and cozy–maybe it’s that Victorian atmosphere (the house was completed in 1875)–with a sink and a lovely view of the back garden…Plus, the House looks even better than in pictures…

London’s A’Calling…

Well, folks, the day has finally come…Once again, I find myself lugging every essential thing I possibly can (without exceeding weight limits) into my beloved orange Nautica suitcase…

Image

…my passport (and letter for the UK Boarding Agency)…

Image

…and a healthy amount of pound sterlings…

…and going across the Atlantic to an exotic locale–this time, it’s London…

Now, I’ve always known I would go to London at some point in my life–but I didn’t imagine it would be so soon after my first adventure in international travel–and I can honestly say that  it’s an EXTRAORDINARY blessing to be able to do so, something that most people in the world cannot say for themselves…

Granted, I’m only going to be there 5 weeks (yeah, I know it’s not that short a time–but I feel like you could be in London for a lifetime and still not be able to fully experience it), and yes, I’m going to be doing actual work there, what with my Intro to Global Trade and Commerce Studies class–but still, I hope to have at least some fun and adventure before all’s said and done!!!!…

So, here’s to a productive–yet thrilling–5 weeks in one of the most exciting cities in the world–about which, of course, I’ll give you deets through my beloved blog here (starting as soon I settle in tomorrow), :-)…

EXCITING DEVELOPMENTS!!!!…

Hello to all my faithful readers!!!!…It’s been a hot minute since I last sat behind the screen to type one of these, but I figured that ya’ll would want to hear what’s in store for me in the coming weeks, :-)…

But, you already know what that means–MORE international adventures for me to blog about!!!!…Where, exactly???… Continue reading “EXCITING DEVELOPMENTS!!!!…”
