O.K., peeps–as of today, I have a week until I leave for España!!…

Still, as psyched as I am to be leaving soon, there are quite a few things on my mind as I prepare to make my intercontinental sojourn…
1) I hope I don’t end up missing my train from Madrid–If you’re anything like me, anything involving public transportation sends you into an (admittedly irrational) state of panic…I don’t know what it is, but just thinking of making my train on time makes me anxious–I mean, what if my flight gets really delayed, or my taxi gets into a wreck, or I miss my stop completely???…
2) Landlords who demand more than a month’s finanza (rent deposit) must be straight trippin’–As if I had that kind of money to begin with…
3) Please have patience with me and my degraded castellano speaking abilities–It has been over a year since I last had to speak it everyday, of course…

4) This whole “find your niche” thing is going to be a little scary–Moving to a place where I know almost no one is going to be a little hard, but it shouldn’t take me too long to make new friends, should it???…
…If only it were this easy…
5) This whole “responsibility” thing is terrifying–Just when exactly did I come to be an “adult” with rent and bills and crap???…
6) Hopefully it doesn’t take long to actually get into this “teaching” thing–After all, I’m not a professionally-certified instructor…
7) Lord, it’ll sure feel good to get paid come November!!–I may not be making it rain, but I’ll never complain about having money in the bank!!…
Any other soon-to-be auxiliar/expat in my boat???…What are some of your thoughts/concerns???…
On a completely different note, I FINALLY got myself an Instagram–YAY for joining the real world, :-)!!…

All those fears and hiccups are bound to make it more interesting story and will ensure it´s a great learning experience! I´ve been in Spain for 5 years now and can relate to a lot of this! I think you’re awfully brave to move to a country in which you’re not a native speaker, (Although I’m sure your skills will come back rather quickly once you’re forced to use them!) If any problems arise, even a missed train, I am sure you’ll be able to handle it. Good luck – and don’t forget to give your family lots and lots of hugs! 🙂

Don’t worry, it will all work itself out! I know that sounds super cliche, but I’ve found that everything resolves itself pretty quickly once you get into the swing of things. I feel ya on paycheck though… November 1st couldn’t come soon enough!!

Yes on the responsibility front! For 2 years my husband and I have been travelling and living pretty care free with cheap rents or accommodation provided with jobs, but now we have to go it alone again and it’s scary to think about!
