Friday was Day #2 of my Paris adventure–and boy did I see a lot!!!!…
Well, first we went to Sacré-Coeur, a basilica located on top of the butte Montmarte, the highest hill in the city…Completed in 1914, the idea of it was originally conceived in October 1872 by Joseph Hippolyte Guibert, the Archbishop of Paris, who’s said to have had a sort of divine epiphany after climbing the butte Montmarte, where God basically told him to construct a church there that honored the Catholic Church, newly resurged after the failed Commune of Paris…Once again, no photos were allowed inside–but hey, Internet, right???…
Speaking of Montmarte, it’s a really cool neighborhood to walk through–really picturesque and bohemian, full of street artists and their wares…
Lunch that day was bangin’–I had croque monsieur avec pommes frites–which is basically a fancy grilled cheese w/ ham, along with French fries…
Then I spent some time in the Galeries Lafayette–which is essentially Paris’ equivatent of Harrod’s…Ugh, once again, when I’m a WAG…
Next stop was the home of these lovely ladies…
Mona…
…And Venus…
That’s right–The Louvre!!!!…Now being a person who loves museums, this was definitely at the top of my sightlist–but by that time, I was so wiped that every step hurt (plus, we were only there for about 2 1/2 hours [and my camera was close to dead]), so I didn’t get to see everything I wanted…But, it was still pretty legit–especially Napoleon III’s appartments…Thankfully, you were allowed to take pics without flash!!!!
After dinner, me and Micaela walked to that most Parisian of places, the Eiffel Tower…I must admit, it is striking all lit up like that, and walking through the streets at night, I felt like I was in the movie Midnight in Paris…It would have been perfectly lovely if there weren’t guys coming around every 3 seconds asking if we wanted beer, champagne, or cigarettes…
And so, Day 2 of my Paris adventure came to a close…
you should have went in side the tower
…Rosa, it was late, and the Metro was only open until so late…
It was certainly a full day, Betty. I really enjoyed the photo tour and happily my feet don’t hurt. 🙂
Many thanks for the follow.
…No problem–thank you for commenting, :)!!…
