I Never Thought I’d Say This, But…

…I’m actually going here tomorrow…

See, my Mom insisted on me going to Paris with a group of my housemates this weekend to Paris, saying that it’s this amazing opportunity that I should experience at least once…But, I have to say–and I’m not being ironic here–that I’m not the most excited person right now…

Now, anyone that knows me really well knows that I’m one of the hugest anti-francophiles you ever meet…Who knows how that started–perhaps it stemmed from that rather (pardon my language) bitchy French teacher I had for homeroom in high school, my hatred of the overly-pretentious, style-over-substance French cinema (the only 2 French films that I can say that I really liked are Paris, Je’taime and The Science of Sleep), and my anger at the constantly over-placed value of the French culture and language over the Spanish culture and language (Spain is my first international love, after all)…Plus–although I haven’t been there yet–I see myself more as a Rome type of girl (Hmm, let’s see–“The Eternal City” or “The City of Lights”–which sounds more substantial???)…

Not-to-mention, my level of French is about as limited as this…

But Professor Taplin’s wife insists that she was like me–and then she went to Paris, and she just fell in love with it…She’s planning on asking me my opinion of the city when we get back, because she’s sure that I’ll have changed my mind…

I mean, I must admit that seeing the Eiffel Tower all lit up (I love bright city lights), going the Louve (I love Museums), and standing in the towers of Notre Dame does sort of have a ring to it–but still, I think it’s kinda up-in-the-air whether I actually enjoy it…

Well, I’ll let you know how it went after the trip, because I doubt that I’ll have time to really write anything (plus, I’m not paying for Wi-Fi)…

Oh, and before you ask, I’m not worried about a Taken-type situation–besides, even if that did happen, my Mom’s told me that this would be her reaction…

  1. First, the song is very funny! Especially the lyrics. And regarding your opinion about Paris, I think it will change. Paris is really a beautiful city!
If you want to interact with a French girl, it would be a pleasure! This would allow us to learn the respective language of the other! 🙂
