In the event that you did not get my titular reference to Li’l Jon (who’ll always be the King of Crunk), tomorrow I embark on my final “official” group excursion…
Now for those of ya’ll who ain’t in the know, right now, I’m on Spring Break…While some of my fellow U.S. college students like to brag about going to Cabo or Alcapulco or South Beach, I think I got them all beat, because I’m going to…
…YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH…
That’s right–I’m headed to Andalucía–the land of matadores, Sun, and Antonio Banderas–for a whole week, no less!!!!…
I’ve been waiting to go to Andalucía for years, so I think this is going to probably go down as my favorite excursion–Dios mío, there’s just going to be so much to see!!!!…Here’s a little sneak-preview…
Day 1–Mérida
O.K., technically this isn’t in Andalucía (it’s the capital of Extremedura–but it seems interesting nonetheless, full of architecture from the time of the Romans (the Ancient Rome nerd in me is so pumped!!), like this one:
El teatro romano (The Roman Theatre)…
Day 2–Córdoba
Once the most important city in Europe (no, really!!) and the capital of Al-Andaluz (the name of the territory ruled by the Muslims during the Reconquista), a distinct Islamic influence can still be seen in this small city, most notably in:
La Mezquita (The Mosque)…
Day 3–Granada
While the whole world can rave about Versailles (which, admittedly, is one of the few places in France that I would really like to see), Granada has its own magnificent palace…
…La Alhambra…
Day 4–Free Day
O.K., I don’t know what I’m going to do for this day, yet…I would love to go to the Mediterranean (that’s on my bucket list)–which is only an hour or two away–there’s still so much more to see in Granada, like:
…La Casa-Museo de Frederico García Lorca–the house/museum dedicated to everyone’s favorite Surrealist poet with a thing for Gypsies…
Day 5–Ronda
A small city divided by the Río Tajo, Ronda has something that I think I’ll like very much:
El Palacio de Mondragón (this girl cannot get enough of beautiful palaces–especially considering that we don’t have those where I’m from [besides the ones in Disney World/Land, and Hogwarts])…
Day 6–Sevilla
O.K., now this is the city I’m most excited to go to–but perhaps that’s because my first Spanish professor (who I had my entire freshman year) was a sevillana (¡te amo, Ana!)…But this place doesn’t just have barbers…
…it also has a host of beautiful architecture and gardens, like those of…
…Los Reales Alcázares (The Royal Palaces)
Day 7–Free Day
Again, I have no clue what I’m going to do for this day–maybe I’ll stop by
…El Museo de Bellas Artes…
Day 8-Cáceres
O.K., to be honest, I have no idea what there is here–I guess I’ll just have to see for myself…
Oh, man–I am so hype for this–ya’ll have no idea!!!!
So, has anyone ever been to Andalucía–and if so, are there any suggestions as to what I should do on my free days???…
…Antonio approves of this post…
who says Bugs Bunny is not go for anything….Next
…I know, right!!!!
