Ascending in Ávila…

O.K., so as I said in my last post, the first part of our excursion was an all-too-brief stay in Ávila…Although we did see some other things, hands down the real main attraction was the city’s muralla (wall)…

Built in the 11th century, the main purpose of this wall was to separate the espacio salvaje (“savage space”–the section where the poor and agrarian workers lived) and the espacio civilizado (the area where the rich lived)…And of course, like all walls, it had defensive purposes as well…

So, without further ado, enjoy pictures I took around and on the muralla!!…
